Shovel-ready science: Moses applies for a GO grant.

چکیده
Thank you for making Dr. Moses’ proposal available for public discussion [see Gerald Weissmann (2009) Shovel-Ready Science: Moses Applies for a GO Grant. FASEB J. 23: 2337–2340]. After reading this proposal, I am deeply concerned over his failure to acknowledge any of the research done by my team. Our work is based extensively on that of Dr. Moses’ important early studies, and we have achieved outcomes involving touch healing and reanimation of the dead. Others who have repeated our experiments also report the instantaneous conversion of bread and wine into flesh and blood. My team’s work is widely known and documented, was done in collaboration with his own mentor’s son, and was even translated by the same K. James! At best, Dr. Moses’ failure to cite our vast body of literature clearly shows his limited understanding of the field, while at worst, shows that his personal bias influences his experimental work. As a result, I believe that his proposal is anything but “shovel ready.”

The 2009 stimulus package released a burst of pent-up creativity in the applications submitted by US researchers, but there was a complicating factor with funding decisions: the need for quick results. Quinn Eastman provides a progress report.
متن کاملContinuity in Software Systems
Most engineering artifacts behave in a continuous fashion, and this property is generally believed to underlie their dependability. In contrast, software systems do not have continuous behavior, which is taken to be an underlying cause of their undependability. The theory of software reliability has been questioned because technically the sampling on which it is based applies only to continuous...

متن کاملA Novel and an Efficient 3-D High Nitrogen Doped Graphene Oxide Adsorbent for the Removal of Congo Red from Aqueous Solutions
The current study both synthesizes and uses four compounds of graphene oxide (GO), nitrogen doped graphene oxide (ND-GO), high nitrogen doped graphene oxide (HND-GO), and three dimensional high nitrogen doped graphene oxide (3D-HND-GO) in order to remove a model anionic dye, Congo red (CR) from wastewaters. It also compares their carbon nano-structure, with regard to removal efficiency and find...
متن کاملModeling and Optimization of Truck-Shovel Allocation to Mining Faces in Cement Quarry
Truck and shovel are the most common raw material transportation system used in the cement quarry operations. One of the major challenges associated with the cement quarry operations is the efficient allocation of truck and shovel to the mining faces. In order to minimize the truck and shovel operating cost, subject to quantity and quality constraints, the mixed integer linear programing (MILP)...
